2. Why enjoy POWDER?
If you are doing activities in the cold, such as backcountry skiing, mountaineering in the cold winter, or ice climbing, you probably know that when the temperature gets close to minus, regular energy bars become very hard. They become so hard you think your teeth might break, and when that happens, you can't eat them, and you can't even taste them anymore. That's another problem I had in the mountains.
POW BAR (the three types other than the baked Fruit Nut Crunch) can be eaten without becoming hard and without losing its flavor.
There are a few reasons why your POW BAR won't freeze.
First of all, it does not contain any added sugar, syrup or sugar, and it is not baked. (It can change depending on the ratio of ingredients, so it cannot be said that it will not become hard if it is not baked with these ingredients) (※Fruit & Nut Crunch is baked)
In order to cheaply increase the calories per bar, typical energy bars contain a lot of added ingredients such as rice syrup, glucose syrup, apple cider syrup, sugar, etc. If you look closely at the ingredients list on the back, most of them list sugar as the first main ingredient.
The advantage of using sugar as the main ingredient is that it increases calories while keeping the price down and extending the expiration date. The disadvantages are that liquid sugars tend to harden in cold places. They also cause rapid rises in blood sugar levels and rapid falls in blood sugar levels, making it difficult to control blood sugar levels. Products that use pure sugar as the main ingredient provide a temporary, quick energy boost, but the energy runs out quickly and can easily cause hunger knocks.
Hunger knock can be fatal in the outdoors and in sports, affecting not only your physical strength but also your thinking and judgment abilities.
And once that happens, it's often too late.
To prevent this, you need to consume carbohydrates that contain dietary fiber.
POW BAR enters the body in a natural way and is slowly digested and absorbed, making it an energy source that is less likely to cause sudden rises or falls in blood sugar levels.
